Emma Starletto and Lily Larimar sit slouched in that empty classroom, bored out of their skulls with nothing but the hum of old fluorescent lights. Backpacks on the floor, not a single textbook cracked open. Then the door creaks. Their step-mom Sarah Vandella steps inside, face hard as nails.
