Slimthick Vic scribbles another pep-talk on a scrap of paper, tucks it into Anna Claire Clouds’ backpack, and swats her ass goodbye like always. Anna grins, bolts out the door, and when she gets to school she pulls the note free and laughs. Later Vic storms through the house hunting for her missing charger—Anna nabs it every other week—so she bangs open the kid’s bedroom drawer and freezes. Stacked inside are every sappy little message she’s ever written, all of them wrinkled from being read and re-read. Anna walks in mid-shock, sees what’s been found, and says she keeps the stash because it’s the only real reminder of someone who might leave the way her real mom did. Vic’s throat tightens, she pulls Anna close, promises she isn’t going anywhere, and plants a quick motherly peck on her lips. The kiss lingers too long; tongue brushes, hips press. Vic jerks back, eyes wide, blurting an apology, but Anna just smiles and says she liked it—that she wants them closer than ever.
