Shadow Of A Doubt

The scene kicks off with Kathy, nervous as hell, and her husband David waiting on their new babysitter. Kathy's got that paranoid streak, and it's kicking her ass. David pulls her in close, smooth-talking her, reminding her to trust him because he's the one guy she always can lean on. Then Lynn shows up, all butter-wouldn't-melt smiles. Trouble is, she can't seem to take her eyes off David. Hell, she even leans in and murmurs something that sounds exactly like, 'It's gonna be so much fun becoming you.' But when Kathy snaps back in shock, Lynn pivots without a blink: 'I said getting to know you.' Cute, right? Fast-forward a few days, and it's getting downright freaky. Every time Kathy walks through the door, Lynn has morphed a little more - same blouse, same hair flip, same fucking smirk. Kathy's jealousy flares up fast and loud. She corners David, accusing him of sneaking around. Instead of getting defensive, David actually backs Lynn and tells Kathy she's imagining shit again. That one stings like a slap. Then the night it all snaps: Kathy gets home early and catches David already home, alone with Lynn, the tension thick enough to taste.
