Codependent

Scene opens on Clara and Beth parked across from each other at a table. Beth's face tightens up as she complains Spencer’s late again, and she’s not in the mood to sit around for another two-hour stretch like last time. Spencer finally shows, and drops the bomb that he’s been screwing around with some other woman and plans to marry her too. A few days later Clara opens her door to Beth, who thanks her for the invite. They both admit it feels strange meeting without Spencer as an excuse. They sprawl on opposite ends of the couch, griping about how he’s been ignoring them. Realizing he’s been pitting them against each other, they ditch the competition. Week after week they draw closer, until one afternoon Beth stretches out with her head in Clara’s lap. Clara freezes, then smiles and strokes her hair. A moment later their fingers thread together. Beth leans up for a kiss, hesitates, but Clara nods and they lock lips. Clothes slide off fast and the two of them fuck like they’ve been waiting years for it. They know Spencer will find out eventually, and wonder what the hell he’ll do when he does.
